The Chicago Lockdown 17U group lost on Friday night, but they bounced back to go 3-0 in the Gold Bracket. Fun team to watch as they play the game as a team getting everyone involved winning over Minnesota Heat 53-37. Lyons point guard Grant Niego set the tone once again at the point. He has proven he is an improved scorer this spring scoring on scoop shots, threes, and still finding others off dribble penetration. Went for 13 points. His backcourt mate Conor Glennon didn’t score, but set the tone with his intensity and finding others up with his passing. The top prospect on this team is Hinsdale Central power forward Ryan Isaacson. The face up four man had another solid outing displaying touch on his shot from mid-range and three along with skill on the block. He rebounded well this weekend. Isaacson had 9 points. Brother Rice has a couple intriguing forwards on this team. DeAndre Hagan is a 2020 combo forward that snatches boards with his quick twitched athleticism while getting put backs. Scored 10 points. JH1 Ohio 15U Continues Strong Spring with 60-50 Win Over ET21 Buckeyes
A week ago in Indy this JH1 team took home the 15U championship. They had another strong outing in St. Louis. Right away the player for JH1 who jumped off the floor to us was 6’6” power forward Troy Scowden. The post showed he could stretch the floor with his shooting stroke along with playing tough around the hoop using a hook shot and rebounding well. He had 10 points. Dylan Thompson is a lead guard at 6’1” that made plays with the ball in his hands erupting for a huge first half finishing with 13 points. For ET21 Buckeyes we got an extensive look at Hinsdale South shooting guard Bobby Durkin and came away very impressed with this young two guard. Outstanding jump shooter with both spot up threes along with crisp pull ups from 15 feet. Also passed it well putting a nice overall skill package on display. He had 23 points. A couple of others who are intriguing from this team include Damari Williams (St. Joseph’s) who is a slick handling lead guard that was slippery through traffic. Also long and lanky forward Conor McAndrews (Maine West) flashed some intriguing tools.

St. Louis Blazers 16U Win Thriller Against Five Man Capitol City Teamwork 74-71
This was one of the best games of the tournament. The St. Louis Blazers took home a narrow win to advance to the championship game of the 16U bracket. Demarcus Sanford sets the tone at the point for the St. Louis Blazers. The Lift for Life Academy 6’2” point guard rebounds insanely well for a guard. He can also knock down jumpers and dished it. Scrappy guard scored 13 points. Monster second half from Cardinal Ritter guard Nyjahi Vaughn who took over for his team with his shifty ball handling and scoring from 15 feet in. Went for 17 points all in the second half! Lift for Life guard Barcus Jackson Jr. can also score it knocking down a pair of jumpers along with getting loose in transition for 11 points. Capitol City Teamwork out of Springfield left it all out on the floor. They were down to five players and those five literally left everything they had on the floor! It started with their point guard Shane Miller. Strong combo guard who lived at the rim especially in the second half. Plays well through contact and handles it against pressure. Drilled a pair of pull up threes for 25 points! He barely could walk by the end of the game. He was joined in the backcourt by Michael Ousley from Lanphier. Robert Lewis from Cardinal Ritter jumped off the floor screaming upside. Long armed 3/4 man that defends all over the floor, protects the rim, and runs the court with fluidity. He had 8 points. This was another one of the better games of the day. Gateway out of St. Louis was led by a future standout from Chaminade Nate Straughter. The 6-2 wing has a nice build and plus athleticism. Big time shooter as he drilled threes off the catch along with pull ups from all over the floor. Also made plays driving to the lane where he was effective finishing with either hand. Team Ramey Takes Home 17U Crown Over Gateway in Battle for STL!
The 17U championship game was an all St. Louis contest. Ramey played their best basketball of the weekend in the title clash. Mehlville 2020 small forward Lamontay Daughtery had a huge performance with probably the best showing we have seen from him in a while. The 6’6” small forward has all the physical tools, but it is just about putting it together consistently. He was outstanding getting scores at all three levels along with regularly making trips to the free throw line. Pull up three was falling and he attacked with aggressive moves finishing with 21 points. Jaylen Boyd had another nice outing using his powerful build to get downhill for scores getting 6 points. Cardinal Ritter forward Gary Clark showed off his versatile game blocking shots, getting put backs, throwing down slams, running the floor, and hit a baseline J. He had 12 points. On the Gateway side it was their 2021 inside duo from Desmet who stood out once again. Both Sekou Gassama and Yaya Keita are trending as high-major prospects with their rebounding, defense, and emerging offensive skills. Tahj Patterson took it to the rim for a couple of and-1s. Harrison Vickers out of Chaminade used his angular frame to finish with athleticism around the hoop and get on the glass.
