These were prospects we already knew about, but felt they elevated their stock with a strong weekend in the STL!
Grant Niego (Chicago Lockdown 17U)
Niego is a plus shooter that has developed his all-around game over the last year. He has much improved ball handling since even the high school season. Crisper and wins more consistently off the bounce. Made plays in the lane converting scoop shots and drawing defenders for dishes to his shooters.
Chase Travis (Illinois Bears 15U)
Travis is a sleeper 2022 prospect that has a chance to be a college prospect down the line. Listed at 6’3” he has a lot of projectability to add strength and height. He was at his best getting loose in the open floor for athletic layups. One to watch from Southern Illinois!
Armond Williams (Southwest Jets 17U)
Williams was a role player last season for East St. Louis that is primed to breakout into a major role as a senior. Long and lanky 6’8” center that is extremely agile around the hoop. He needs to continue adding strength to max out his potential, but he is already effective running the floor with ease scoring a lot of points in that fashion. Rim protector swatting shots at a nice clip.
Patrick Readye (Southwest Jets 17U)
Readye will be playing next to Williams in high school as he is transferring to East St. Louis from Althoff. He is more of your traditional five man with his strong base and ability to finish around the hoop on dump off passes and junk points. Even stepped out to hit a three. Rebounds well in his area. When he plays with a high motor this kid is a good player!
Donte Williams (Gateway Illinois 17U)
Tough and rugged four man from Collinsville that brings a lot of toughness to the table on both ends. Rebounds well and is a solid post defender. Runs the floor very hard and with a purpose. Also displayed more skill than we had seen in the past with a couple of hook shots.
Blake McKay (Illinois Bears 17U)
McKay is a combo guard from Woodlawn who tends to fly a bit under the radar, but he had a strong weekend. Plus shooter from beyond the arc and has a crisp one dribble pull up. Also took it to the hoop a few times finishing with either hand.
Emaryon Byrd (Peoria Area Elite 17U)
Byrd is a 2021 prospect playing up a year and has held his own. The shooting guard has projectability with the way he moves at his size. Sound jump shot and an overall smooth game. Like what he did in their matchup against Ramey on Sunday.
