It’s packed with the best talent from around the state and this year was no different. Today, we are looking at the top 2022 prospects in the event and those at the post positions.
Dayton Devaughn – 6’8 C 2022 – Martinsville (IN) – EG10 2022
Dayton is a tall post player, one of just a few in the class. He’s got a legit frame at 6’8 and he’s gaining some strength now. He’s raw and a little unsure of his game at times but you see it start to come through. He’s getting good post scores around the rim and finishing well with his right at on the block. Need him to be a little stronger and tougher on those finishes but that will come with time.
Jalen Washington – 6’8 PF 2020 – Gary West (IN) – Meanstreets 2022
Jalen is a long, lean forward with a tremendous amount of upside. There is a ton of rebounding potential he showed this weekend, using his length well and bounce too. He’s a guy that likes to pull-up in the mid-range. His touch wasn’t quite where he’s hitting a ton but everything up to the finish looks good. He tends to lean too much on them right now that could help.
Chad Cox – 6’3 PF 2022 – Franklin County (IN) – Indiana Legends 2022
Chad is a long, undersized forward with some upside. He’s very thin right now, needing a ton of strength. His game is exactly that of a stretch forward but he’s only hovering around 6’3 right now. Has plenty of time to grown and looks like he will. Was great as a finisher on the move around the rim, a low block scorer, and a perimeter shooter off the catch. A lot of ways for him to score, just needs the body to catch up a bit.
Joe Reidy – 6’5 PF 2022 – Woodlan (IN) – Indy Heat Red 2022
Joe is a long, lean wing with really good ball handling and some offense skill. He’s best when he can play in transition or on the wing in the half court. He’s already 6’5 and will likely still grow a bit here. He was matched up on some post players and while he wasn’t bad, not sure that is going to be something you see him do a ton at the next level. Needs strength but the frame should be wiry strong.
D.J. Allen – 6’4 PF 2022 – Leo (IN) – Indy Heat Red 2022
Allen is a tall forward who looks like he is going to add a lot of size soon. He’s raw right now but solid as a functional rebounder and showed a little touch in this one. He’s got a nice right-handed turnaround jumper. Can get posted up okay, needs to be a little stronger with it because he has the size advantage on most, but when he can get touches he has enough skill to put up points. Good projectable big man in this class.
Antonio Lisenbee – 6’6 PF 2022 – Cathedral (IN) – Team Teague 2022
Antonio is a long, strong forward whose game is built on his frame and athleticism. He’s very raw right now, trying to find ways to impact the game. But slowly, we are seeing him do that. He’s able to play above the rim and in transition. Able to be tough on the boards at times and use his length. Need to see him do a little more in the half-court, finding the ability to post up and have a go-to move, which he lacks right now. The upside looks obvious, just going to take him a bit to become a finished product but making strides.
