It’s packed with the best talent from around the state and this year was no different. Today, we are looking at the top 2021 prospects in the event and those at the forward positions.
Alex Money – 6’5 PF 2021 – Evansville Mater Dei (IN) – All Indy Gym Rats 2021 Black
Money is a big forward prospect with good size and strength already. He’s fairly mobile, not explosive but positionally he gives you some switch ability. Right now, he does so much of his work as a faced-up offensive player from 10’ and in. Not a guy that is going to stretch the floor much or play with his back-to-the-basket. He can physical and tough in the post but would like to see the rebounding take a step forward.
Evan Altman – 6’6 PF 2021 – Brebeuf Jesuit (IN) – All Indy Gym Rats 2021 Black
Evan is a big post player with a lean frame and tons of strength already. Best as a mobile big that can catch on a cut to the rim or play faced up. Had a nice up-and-under that showed some athletic ability. He’s not a big rebounder right now and seems to be positioning more than anything right now. Will need to add that more to his game. Has a lot of upside because of the frame, just needs a little more developed skills to shine through.
Jaylen Carson – 6’6 PF 2021 – Crispus Attucks (IN) – Grand Park Premier 2021 Red
Jaylen is a tough, physical post player who can really impact the game on both ends of the floor. He’s got good energy but seems like he has a top gear he can lock into and be dominant. Not a ton of offensive skill outside of the paint but if he can develop more, he could really take off. His rebounding is really outstanding and he was drawing a ton of fouls both there or on low block touches. Can play with his back to the rim or faced up. He is willing to shoot from distance but not sure if he is consistent with it yet.
Clayton Bubash – 6’5 SF 2021 – Munster (IN) – Indiana Game 2021 – Chemma
Clayton is a big wing forward with a frame that is going to grow and add a lot more strength. Already strong now, he’s beginning to look more and more like his older brother that was a standout for Indiana Wesleyan. Clayton really showed he could stretch and shoot well from distance. Best off the catch but also tough on the pull-up. Very mobile right now and should have that defensive versatility for small school programs to use well.
Kyle Ross – 6’7 PF 2021 – Andrean (IN) – Indy Heat 2021 EYBL
Kyle is a big forward with great size and the more and more he develops, he’s looking more mobile and creative. Was really good this weekend when he had the ball in his hands. Can mix in a spin move and finish with length. Tough on the boards and is able to stretch out of his area a little more. Still showing that great perimeter jumper. He’s really been consistent with that shot and could be the skill that separates him right now.
Christian DaCosta – 6’9 C 2021 – Indianapolis Tindley (IN) – Indy Heat Red 2021
Christian is a big post player with good size and length already. He’s a little raw right now but he looked improved this weekend as a low block scorer. Was more willing to try and make a play with his bas to the basket. Has a lot of the physical tools you want but it’s just putting that upside and turning it into skill.
Sam Strycker – 6’4 PF 2021 – Fort Wayne Carroll (IN) – TPE 2021
Sam is a big but undersized forward right now. He’s a guy that will likely change a ton over the next year as he can step out and shoot but isn’t crazy mobile either. Stretch forward type that can give you some versatility with his switch ability. It feels like his shooting ability might be his best offensive skill at the moment. He’s got some range and good touch beyond the arc.
