Wade and E1T1 went 0-4 at Nike EYBL Session I in Atlanta April 26-28. Session II will be May 10-12 at Pacers Athletic Center in Indy.
The 6-foot-2 junior had his best game in the final contest of the four — a 95-93 loss to a talented Mac Irvin Fire squad from Illinois. Wade scored 10 points, dished out 6 assists and had 3 rebounds. He tallied 7 points and 6 assists vs. Playaz (N.J.).
“So far we are just trying to build chemistry,” Wade said. “We’ve got a whole bunch of new guys. This first session we’re just getting to know each other right now.”
Two of E1T1’s losses ended in one-shot games and three of the four losses were by single-digits.
DePaul University pulled the trigger on an offer to Wade after his performance in Atlanta. He also picked up an early scholarship offer from Nebraska last year. However, that was before Fred Hoiberg took over the program from former coach Tim Miles.
Wade said a strong relationship with the coaching staff will decide where he heads on the next level.
“I just want the coach to have my best interest,” Wade said. “Also I don’t want to go to a school that they sell me out & then I don’t get to play or stuff like that. So, I want to go to a school that they know my game and they’ll fit me in well so I’ll have a good chance.”
Wade currently attends American Heritage in Plantation. The Patriots went 11-11 in 2018-19 and are on their third head coach in a year. Brent Maffett was the head coach two years ago and was replaced by Fred Battle. Battle was let go after one year and has been replaced by Western High assistant and former NBA player Raja Bell.
Asked whether he would be back at American Heritage in 2019-2020, Wade said, “I don’t know yet. I don’t know yet actually.
“We’re still deciding. Checking out the options.”
