Recruiting Report: Jordan Toles (2020)
Jordan Toles admits that Team Thrill’s strength lies on the defensive side of the ball, and the numbers back up that claim. Through two sessions on the UAA during which they compiled a 5-3 record, Thrill was ranked third among all teams in Defensive-Points-Per-Possession at 0.858 and 5th in Points-Per-Possession differential at 0.105.
“Our strength is pressuring the offense. Getting out and running on fast breaks,” said Toles after his team’s 71-47 win over Wisconsin Playground in New Jersey to kick off Session III on Friday night.
Thrill allowed 72 points per game over their next three during the third session this past weekend. They lost all three games.
“I’m the do-it-all guy for the team,” Toles stated when asked to define his role. “Just being the leader. The motivator. Lead by example.”
If there was a tone-setter on the defensive end on this team, it would be Toles. He leads Thrill with a 1.7% steal rate. He also ranks third on the team in Defensive Rebound Percentage at 16%, which is outstanding for a guard.
“My decision making is probably the most improved part of my game. My ability to be the floor general and knocking down the mid-range jumper.” said Toles, who leads Thrill with a 16.8% assist rate.
Consistency is admittedly a big thing for Toles. He strives to continue his improvement in order to reach his ultimate goal.
“I just want to be successful, do what I love and make a living for myself.”
Schools such as LSU, Maryland, Syracuse, Ohio State, and Alabama are currently standing out in his recruitment. Toles is a top-ranked safety nationally for football, and says he’s “85% sure” he will be playing both sports at the next level.
What can he bring to a college program?
“Effort. Defensive pressure. The will to win, and just a dog at all aspects of the game.”
Jordan Toles is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-15 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2020 class, click here.
