Recruiting Report: Jalen Cook (2020)
Jalen Cook, a class of 2020 point guard from Walker, has been playing at an extremely high level for Louisiana Elite. Cook has been an integral part to his team’s 9-3 start on the UAA. He leads them in scoring, has a high assist to turnover ratio and is shooting over 46% from three.
Cook is currently ranked second in his class by Prep Hoops. He says LSU, Houston, and Georgetown are standing out in his recruitment.
“I’m a do it all type of guy. I dig down and play hard. Play my heart out. Just loving to win. Hate to lose. Playing hard every time,” he said of his overall game. “I’ve been playing since age 4. Walker Recreation. Since little leagues. Basketball is really my true love. I’ve just been working at it ever since.”
Listed at 6’0, 185, Cook is a tremendous shot creator who can really handle and distribute. The 17-year old guard demonstrates a good middle game to go along with his ability to shoot the three ball.
“Just being scrappy. They like my intensity to the game. Making touch shots. Playing my heart out,” said Cook of the feedback he receives from college coaches. “All of them tell me to always improve my defense. Bring energy to the game.”
Cook says his ultimate goal is to make it to the NBA. The first step before that will be college. What can he add to a program at the next level?
“Heart. The Will to win. Bringing energy and intensity.”
