Virginia Tech has offered. Michigan, Ohio State, Wake Forest, Northwestern, Xavier, and Cincinnati have all called. That said, Gabe also has an interest in playing with his brother Mason Madsen. Together Northern Iowa, Toledo, and William & Mary have offered both. This weekend the Madsens will visit William & Mary who is coached now by Dane Fischer, who grew up in Rochester.
The offer from Virginia Tech and new Head Coach Mike Young left an impression.
“It’s cool because that’s the first high major offer I’ve received since freshman year (Marquette),” Gabe said at the Battle at the Lakes. “It’s in the best conference in the country. It was cool to see the hard work paying off. They told me they’re going to play the same way Wofford played, so that appeals to me a lot. They shoot a lot three.”
Where does Gabe want to play at the college level?
“It’s going to come down to fit. If there’s a school that fits both of us and that’s the right thing then it could happen. It will come down to playing style and coaches I have strong relationship with.”
Gabe averaged 24 points and 10.6 rebounds a game at Mayo as a junior plus he’s scoring 12.2 points a game in UAA play shooting over 43 percent at the arc.
