Casey is a five-star talent nationally because of his rare combination of size, mobility, and skill on the interior. Such a bright future for this young man!
How was his first year of high school basketball?
“We started out rough as we lost one of our key players early in the year Ahamad Bynum. We started to click when he came back. We made it to the sectional championship game.”
He came up big in the playoffs including hitting a game winner at the buzzer.
“It was good. Kind of nerve racking a little bit. You have to go through the pressure. The big shot of course I enjoyed my moment. I took off and ran celebrating when I hit it.”
His Meanstreets 15U squad is one of the best in the Midwest.
“We are doing really good. Our first EYBL session we went 2-2. Off to a good start.”
What areas of his game is he focusing on developing this summer?
“My ball handling. I have really improved on my defense so now I am starting to work on my ball handling.”
Several schools have been through Simeon open gyms to check him out.
“Mizzou, Bradley, Wisconsin, and Illinois.”
Currently he holds three offers.
“Illinois, DePaul, and Tulane.”
Casey discussed the two in-state programs who have extended scholarships.
Illinois
“They play in one of the hardest conferences in the NCAA. I like that. You know you will always be playing good teams.”
DePaul
“I like their facilities. I could be a hometown hero.”
PHI has not debuted the 2022 class rankings as of yet, but Casey will be the #1 player when they are published.
