Townsend is a hidden gem from Oxford that led Oxford High to a 23-2 ’18-’19 season including a league and district championship. He averaged 14 PPG, 9 RPG, and 4 APG during his big junior campaign. Townsend is a freak athlete and is a threat from all over the court. The 6’6 wing has just began to scratch the surface of how good he can be. Townsend has good grades, is coachable, and is very hardworking. He has been having a big spring with UTS Elite. D2 coaches should be all over him. Learn more about who Trey Townsend is below:
Question: What are the biggest strengths of your game?
Trey Townsend: I feel my biggest strengths to my game are my shooting and my ability to finish at the rim.
Question: What do you need to improve on the most to take your game to the next level?
Trey Townsend: I always can improve my game but I think I need to improve my ball handling the most.
Question: What sets you apart from your competitors?
Trey Townsend: I’d say my what I’m able to do at my size sets me apart. I grew up playing a guard and now that I have grown a lot I have added post play to my game so I feel having that combination helps me a lot
Question: What did you most enjoy about this spring AAU season? Why?
Trey Townsend: I enjoyed getting the opportunity to play against a high level of competition every week. And I played with a new team this year so getting know this new group of guys was great.
Question: Have you been recruited by any colleges yet?
Trey Townsend: I have been getting a colleges to contact me to start recruiting this spring.
Question: What is your favorite class in school?
Trey Townsend: Right now I would have to say my favorite subject in school is either my news broadcasting class, or physics. Both are really interesting to me.
Question: What do you want to major in?
Trey Townsend: As of now I am undecided in what I want to major in.
Question: What is a short term goal you have?
Trey Townsend: A short term goal I have is to graduate with the good gpa I have and be all state next year for basketball and track.
Question: What is a long term goal you have?
Trey Townsend: A long term goal I have is to receive a full ride scholarship to play basketball somewhere.
Question: Which college or NBA player do you consider your game most similar to? Why?
Trey Townsend: A lot of my friends like to compare me to Kevin Durrant because of my build and how I play. So I’d probably compare myself to him.
