At 6’0, Perry is leader who brings a high basketball IQ to the floor as a student of the game. He can score from anywhere on the floor but says he takes pride in creating for others and making his teammates better.
He is putting together a strong offseason running with MoKan 2020 and says the experience helping prepare him for his senior season for the Eagles.
“My summer team consist of players who were the best players on there high school teams this past season,” Perry said. “It’s a lot fun playing with these talented guys. We play pretty fast which allows me to push the ball in transition and look ahead after a miss or make.
“This will be very beneficial for my high school season knowing we won’t be very tall, we will need to play fast and score in transition as much as possible.”
Perry says he has spent much of the offseason working in the weight room to get stronger.
“My high school (Liberty North) has a great weight program,” he says. “I have also spent time working on improving my ability to shoot in many different ways (off the catch, off the dribble, off screens, in transition, etc.).”
Perry says the biggest impact on his basketball career to date has been his dad.
“My love for the sport came from him and without him I wouldn’t be where I am now or nearly as passionate about basketball,” Perry said. “He put a basketball in my hands when I was 3 years old and I’m still bouncing it today.”
Perry says his favorite player in Kobe Bryant and while their games are different, says he appreciates the way the former star approached the game.
“What I takeaway from Kobe is playing with no fear,” Perry said. “Kobe had no fear whatsoever and I would like to say the same about myself.”
Perry has drawn an offer from William Jewell College and has drawn interest from Mid American Nazarene and Concordia University.
