At 6’0, Evans brings an all-around game to the floor that includes hustle, defense, leadership and a willingness to do the dirty work and guard the opposing team’s best player.
Offensively, he can get to the basket off the bounce and has the ability to score at all three levels.
Evans says running with NLHA this season has prepared him for his senior season and perhaps beyond.
“Playing for my team has been fun this summer we had are ups and downs but my teammates are the best teammates I could ask for they look at me as a
leader and I look them as my brothers,” Evans says. “But this AAU season has prepared me for this upcoming high-school season because I’ve played against good players and teams that has had me more competitive and I’m looking forward to leading my school to a state championship.”
Evans says he is focused on improving his left hand and his jumper and says he saw some of that hard work pay off with a strong shooting performance in Lawrence.
“I believe it’s coming along because these past few tournaments my shot has been falling more often and I’ve been finishing strong with the left hand,” Evans said.
A fan of Virginia guard Ty Jerome, Evans says he appreciates his all-around game..
Evans says the biggest influence on his basketball career to date is his mom and family.
“Seeing my mom work the way she does puts a desire in me to never see her work again and that’s my plan,” he says.
“I love watching Jerome play basketball because his understanding of the game to me is perfect, the way he sees the court and never let his opponents speed him up,” Evans says. “What I took from his game is being a leader and playing like a underdog with a chip on my shoulder.”
Although he does not yet hold any offers, Evans has heard from a handful of schools and says he looking forward to what the future may hold.
