Continue Reading4A State Champs Eleanor Roosevelt had no shortage of talent, but with so many seniors moving on, guys like Thomas Whitley are waiting in the wings. Whitley is asserting himself thus far during the AAU season with District Basketball Club. Is this a sign of things to come? Only time will tell. In the mean time, Prep Hoops took the opportunity to get to know Whitley a little better.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
TW: “I have an all-around game. I feel like I can score, but I like to share the ball too. Get everybody involved. Play the right way.”
PH: What did you learn playing on a state championship team this year?
TW: “Cam (Brown), Kyle (Rose), Isaiah (Gross), Jaamir (Butler), they’re all just hard workers. And that just spread throughout the team, and we fed off of it.”
PH: What are your grades like?
TW: “I’ve got a 3.4 GPA.”
PH: What’s the most improved part of your game in recent months?
TW: “My ball-handling.”
PH: What are you working on right now?
TW: “My shot. It needs to be more consistent.”
PH: What’s your role for this DBC Team?
TW: “Whatever the coaches need me to do. I’m pretty versatile, so I can fill a bunch of different roles.”
PH: What are your goals?
TW: “I want to win as many games as possible, and I want to get on college coaches radar.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
TW: “Versatility, and a winning attitude.”
