Continue ReadingThere have been multiple players having standout springs over the grassroots season. One of those athletes is Linden Holder from De La Salle and the Michigan Goonies. He’s a point guard in the class of 2021. Last high school season, through 3 games, Holder averaged 11.3 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game, and 2.3 steals per game. He then suffered a broken ankle that sidelined him for the rest of the year. Holder has come back strong this spring and is sliding up the prospect rankings.
Holder has the skills of a quintessential point guard. He’s a solid ball handler that can dribble through pressure or make the proper pass. Holder is a good shooter that doesn’t allow the defense to step back on him. He has a strong basketball IQ, allowing him to instinctively read game situations and make the right play. Holder is an outstanding free throw shooter. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him eclipse the 90% mark next season.
Linden Holder is still focused on developing as a player and gaining experience. He’s currently focused on improving defensively. Holder considers when De La Salle went to the Breslin Center for the Final 4 during his freshman season, his top moment in basketball. He’s looking forward to the Brawl for the Ball in Grand Rapids and the Adidas Gauntlet in Chicago later this season.
Holder is driven by his goals. He’s working this spring and summer to get his name out to college coaches and show them the value he would bring to their program. Of course, Holder also wants to win as many tournaments as possible this grassroots season. He has his sights set on playing college basketball someday. Eventually, Holder would like to become a college coach.
The recruiting process is just beginning for Linden Holder. He doesn’t hold any offers, but certainly has the skills needed to play at the next level. Holder would provide a college program with a great leader on and off the court.
“My Dad is my greatest motivation because he pushes me to get better everyday.”
