Prospect Spotlight: Judah Mintz (2022)
Based on what we from Judah Mintz in Hampton, he looks ready to take the next step at Gonzaga. The 6-foot-3, 165 pound freshman guard went off for 23 points as Team Takeover recovered from a double-digit halftime deficit to knock off BWSL-Hite on Saturday at Southern JamFest. Mintz has always been adept at attacking the basket and scoring from mid range, but he is looking more and more comfortable shooting the three ball lately.
“My jump shooting is the most improved part of my game,” said Mintz. “I’ve been getting a lot of reps in the gym.”
Mintz gained valuable experience during his freshman year, guarding the likes of Anwar Gill in every day practice and bringing home a WCAC Championship in the process. It will be interesting to see if the success he is currently having with Team Takeover will manifest itself during his sophomore season at Gonzaga. He showed signs of potential last season, but can he emerge as a consistent producer?
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up as a five-star,” Gill said of Mintz. “I know what he’s capable of. He guarded me every day in practice.”
In late April, Mintz received his first D1 offer from George Mason, likely the first of many. Coming from a basketball family, its not far-fetched to see him prosper at an early age. Mintz recalls playing basketball since age 5. His dad played at Radford, and his uncle played at A&M Corpus Christi. Mintz also has a 12-year old brother who currently plays in the New World program.
“My goals are to win, and some day make it to the NBA,” Mintz stated.
