Prospect Spotlight: Jason Edwards (2021)
Currently ranked as #76 in our 2021 state rankings, Jason Edwards is making a name for himself this AAU season. The 5’11 guard is playing well for Team Forrest AAU. So far this summer, he is averaging an impressive 30 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals per game. He is a pure scorer at the guard spot who can also get his teammates involved. Last week against Hype Hawks, Edwards poured in 37 points, including 7 three pointers. He was also named one of the “2021 Stock Risers” for his play at the HoopSeen Tip-Off.
Jason Edwards has high expectations leading into his junior year at Grayson. He looks to have a bigger role this upcoming season. Edwards says, “I’m looking forward to being able to help the team win by doing my role as well as getting better by being surrounded with extremely talented players.” With 5-star senior prospect Deivon Smith leading the team next year, Edwards’ game will fully develop as he learns from one of the top guards in the country.
Floor generals run in the Edwards family. Older brother and former Grayson standout, Nick Edwards, is currently a point guard at Northwest Mississippi. “My brother is the one who put me on to the sport. I quickly modeled my game after his in aspects of how quick he played and how to look for the open man,” he says. Jason Edwards has shown great promise this summer and will follow in his brother’s footsteps as another great guard out of Grayson.
