An all-around, 6’0 scoring guard, Wash is an energetic defender who brings good court vision and playmaking skills to the floor.
Playing for a young inexperienced Derby team that featured just one senior on the roster, Wash says the team grew throughout the season and is looking forward to the upcoming season.
“This season was a bit of a struggle with team communication and lack of experience at the varsity level ,but I look to this upcoming school season after seeing all the improvements me and teammates have made in the offseason,” he says.
Wash says he has been working on becoming a more consistent shooter and working to create offense for his teammates.
He is putting together a strong summer running with NLHA 16U Gaddis and says the experience has helped him grow as a player.
“Playing for my summer team has been great and I’m with individuals who really help me elevate my game,” he says. “It has prepared me for this upcoming school season by expanding my level of experience and IQ of the game.”
Wash says his grandfather John Smart has been the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“He started me in basketball and is always helping me make improvements on my game,” Wash said.
A fan of Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook, Wash says he appreciates the intensity the star guard brings to the floor.
