Prep Hoops Circuit – The All Session 5 Team
The Prep Hoops Circuit Hard Work Live event brought Midwest talent together for an exciting weekend in Madison. Today Prep Hoops honors the top performers in The All Session 5 Team.
Antoine Bloxton of The Work Foundation. Antoine opened Hard Work Live with a 24 point game and there was rumors of a 40 spot later in the weekend. Soft jumper that was used in space plus an attack that found a weakness and darted to open space for results. Produced for his team not just as a scorer but also had several creative assists leading teammates to high percentage success. The Work Foundation went a perfect 4-0 with Bloxton leading the way.
Charlie Katona of Minnesota Fury Zurn. Charlie scored 73 points in the four games played in Madison shooting an exceptional 60 plus percent form the field for a 4-0 Fury team. There was a definite edge to everything Katona did on both ends of the floor: rebounding with strong grip/elbows, vicious attacks to the rim complete with animated slam finishes, and a lot of talk on defense both to his teammates and to opponents at times. The 6-foot-6 small forward has had a strong five game run on the Prep Hoops Circuit where that edge has clearly helped his production.
Andrew Morgan of Minnesota Heat Tauer 16s. The most dominating player at the event was likely Andrew Morgan at the 16s level. The 2021 big from Waseca is too strong, too quick off his feet, too fluid in his movement, and too intelligent working in the post for anybody at that level to deal with. If you are a division one college basketball coach and you aren’t making plans to see Morgan at Waseca High School and/or with the Minnesota Heat, you are already behind on your job. Seriously, get ahead of the game! This is a top 3/4 sophomore in Minnesota and a clear top 150 player nationally. Ended his weekend putting up 28/12 on the top opponent he faced.
Matthew Mors of South Dakota Attack. Matthew Mors was the best player prospect in Madison and after the event he picked up an offer from Iowa State (Mors now has seven major conference offers). South Dakota Attack pushed their undefeated record to 9-0 on the season and are set to face some of the best teams in the Midwest at Battle at the Lakes in eight days (D1 Minnesota, Wisconsin Playground Warriors, Grassroots Sizzle, etc). Mors led the way with a 75 point, four game weekend joining a strong team effort that has also put Kobe Busch on the national map, has Alex VanKalsbeek getting scholarship offers, plus eyes are looking at Akoi Akoi and Josh Arlt as well.
Leondre Townsen of Illinois Vipers. Townsen exploded with four dunks in the first two minutes of the event and then continued his scoring run putting 38 on the board for the Vipers in game one. The 6-5 long and lanky scoring guard is a 2019 who was constantly putting the ball on the deck to finish above the rim. Unsigned talent who recently de-committed from Trinity Christian and his performance this weekend has us thinking teams in need of wings should be making that call.
