Traejon Davis 2020 Buddy Buckets 17U
Davis was already an interesting prospect coming into the summer of 2019 but joining Buddy Buckets has really put a spotlight on his game that he hasn’t had before. With the added exposure, Davis has taken advantage of the new opportunity at every turn.
In their first game of the day, Davis was the standout showcasing his all around offensive game and the ability to guard different positions on defense.
At a legit 6’5, he has the ability to terrorize smaller guards with his length defensively. On a team with numerous guys who will play after high school, Davis might be the promising prospect on the team.
Jaxson Robinson 2021 Team Griffin 16U
Robinson has been lighting it up no matter where on the Circuit they are. As a result, Division 1 offers are beginning to pour in. His teammates do a great job of finding him whenever they are penetrating to the basket.
It was no different today as he played a vital role in their victory over Oklahoma Eagles in a competitive game.
Robinson has the demeanor you want in a great shooter as he never wavers and is always ready for the next opportunity to shoot his shot.
With players like KJ Adams and Trey Alexander, Team Griffin needs a threat like Robinson to spread the floor for those talented ball handlers.
He may be the best shooter in the 17U division and the State Tournament is a great proving ground to assume that title.
CJ Campbell 2020 Oklahoma Eagles
It was intriguing to see an aggressive CJ Campbell today. During school ball he is mainly a facilitator and provides pressure on defense. However, his development as a scorer has been impressive.
They say the mid-range jumper is dead but Campbell used it as an effective weapon on Saturday. He would use his speed to get past the defender then get to the free throw line and stop on a dime and pull up for the jumper.
There were moments today where the Eagles couldn’t get a shot to fall and then they would look to Campbell to create a basket.
For the most part he delivered and he showed that he isn’t just a solid back guard but actually can contribute on both ends against high end competition.
MJ Warrior 2020 BTR
Warrior had a great at at PC West and he has done a great job of leading this talented BTR team to an impressive start to the summer circuit. Warrior is good guard who seems to get better with every summer.
He has improved as a shooter and has become the type of player you can rely on to score double digits points every game. BTR continued their hot streak by winning their pool and setting themselves up for a strong run on Sunday.
No one could stay in front of Warrior today and it only made BTR that more dangerous to guard.
KJ Adams 2021 Team Griffin
Adams has a pro-ready body and he threw his weight around on Saturday. He is a mismatch for whomever guards him in the halfcourt.
Adams game has sort of the new school flare with his exceptional ability to finish in transition however he brings an old-school mentality to the halfcourt with his post game.
Not many wings learn the art of posting up much anymore but Adams has a great feel for it and Team Griffin does a create of recognizing that rare skill.
His midrange touch is getting better every game and he uses his power and finesse to get buckets in the mid post area. His performances on Sunday made it even more clear that Adams is on another level.
It will be interesting to see how teams try to stop such a talented wing with the ability to post up.
Kevin Overton 2022 Team Griffin 15U
Overton was relied to produce for a State tournament team in 6A so this weekend was a great opportunity to let the kids his age know that he is on another level.
He is a 6’4 wing who can guard point guards. He knows how to get his hands on the ball and create turnovers.
On Saturday evening, he was either scoring or getting to the free throw line. His ability in transition was unmatched by anyone in the 15U division.
It was fun to watch Overton show his peers how he has improved while playing the big dogs all year long at Midwest City.
