There are a lot of prospects in the class of 2019 who are still trying to compete for final collegiate roster spots, as well as there are 2020 prospects competing for a scholarship at the next level. Here are a few prospects from Saturday’s night cap that stood out.
Matt Guidry 6’5 SF / Alief Elsik HS [Houston Raptors – Benjamin] 2019
Showcased his athleticism. This high flying wing played big time above the rim on both ends of the floor. Had 3 dunks in the game, and each dunk was on an opponent. He was active on the entire floor. Knocked down shots from the outside also. Finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Jakob Hester 6’7 PF / Aclote HS- FL [Team Speights] 2020
Big guy who gets up and down the floor well. He held it down in the paint on both sides of the ball. He is a player who helps you win by rebounding, altering shots, setting screens, and closing out on the perimeter. He is a glue guy who holds it all together. Solid frame on him and has a nice touch around the rim and good footwork. Has a great skill set also using triple threat action from the post and perimeter. Finished with a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Eric Lee 6’3 SG / Superior HS-FL [Team Speights] 2020
Eric was able to knock down some big time shots in the game. Played very poised when he was running the show at times. He is a great catch and shoot player. He knocked down three trey balls that where tightly contested and on the move. Finished with 17 points on 3/5-3PT shooting in the game.
Jemarcus Holt 6’6 WG / Fort Bend Dulles HS-TX [Houston Raptors – Benjamin] 2020
Played big in the night cap game. He was stroking from the perimeter and also had a dunk in the game. He is a long wing that has a smooth game. He turns his motor on and off. Once he learns how to play with it turned on and all the way up every game, he will definitely be a problem on the floor every single game. Finished the game with 24 points on 4/7-3PT shooting from deep.
Jake Arnold 6’1 SG / Katy Taylor HS-TX [Teaxas TakeOver 16U] 2021
Has a hair trigger and isn’t afraid to pull it from deep. Great elevation on his shot with a quick release. Has a knack for scoring in bunches. He is hands down one of the top 5 shooters in the entire Grind Region. His team plays up in the 17U division and as a spectator you wouldn’t have known the difference. Moves well without the ball in his hands. Good offensive IQ. Finished with 21 points and netted 4 trey balls out of 6 attempts.
Greg Crawford 6’3 G / Aldine Davis HS-TX [Texas TakeOver 16U] 2021
Was an anchor on the defensive end of the ball. His defensive effort led to multiple turnovers and easy transition buckets. Plays with a high motor and has quick active hands. Good lateral movement and attacks the rim aggressively. Finished with 16 points and 5 steals.
Ronald Holmes 6’4 SG / Houston Northside HS-TX [Beast Elite] 2021
Ronald is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on over the next two years. He is a big guard who plays with a great motor. Has a good skill set and his outside jumper is improving. He attacks the rim like a menace and finishes through the contact. He is bouncy guard who plays above the rim. Could be used as a play initiator and run the point at times. Finished with 17 points as he had to leave the game early with a minor injury.
