The games were broken up in a Top 40 and Top 20 format with some Top 40’s playing their way into the Top 20 game of their respective classes.
Here are some standouts from the Top 40 class of 2020 game.
Logan Cremonesi, Mater Dei
The 6-foot-7 forward dominated the 2020 Top 40 game on both ends of the floor. Cremonesi cleaned the defensive glass at a high rate, quickly got the ball to his guards and ran the floor with purpose. He consistently beat his defender down the floor in transition which resulted in deep post position and transition buckets. Cremonesi even showed some touch to the 15-17 foot range with face-up set shots.
Mater Dei forward Logan Cremonesi showed improvements on both sides of the floor at the Pangos Best of SoCal Showcase.Matt DeAngelo, Tesoro
Shooters will always find a way to be successful in this type of atmosphere, especially when the shots are dropping. DeAngelo did a nice job of always being shot ready and dropping to the level of the driver to create a good angle for delivery. The 6-footer knocked down those catch-and-shoot opportunity with regularity.
Luke Guzman, Eastvale Roosevelt
Guzman did a nice job of using his seize and strength advantages on the offensive end. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound power forward was active on both the offensive and defensive glass, used his soft hands and touch to finish around the basket and contested shots in the paint.
Matt Lee, Village Christian
Lee was one of the more impressive offensive performers in this game. The 6-foot combo guard broke down defenders in isolation for paint touches and buckets, but he also showed the ability to play off the ball and knock down jump shots. Lee utilized the shot fake well and drained one and two dribble pull-ups.
Adam Weingard, San Juan Hills
Weingard displayed a versatile skill set, which includes inside-out scoring ability. The 6-foot-5 wing can spread the floor with the catch-and-shoot jumper, but can also operate out of the mid-post with fundamental footwork and the ability to finish around the basket.
