Unsigned Seniors
There were plenty of really good unsigned seniors this weekend still competing for a chance to impress some of the college coaches in attendance. Below are a few standout unsigned seniors from this weekend.
6’0 – (PG) Antonio Salinas (Zillah) – Hoop CWS Black
The 1A WIAA State Tournament MVP was very impressive this weekend. Antonio controlled the tempo for his team all weekend and also was able to set up his teammates with pinpoint passes. His quickness off of the dribble along with his high basketball IQ, shows why this young man had a great high school and soon to be college career.
6’3 – (SG) Colton Northrop (Richland HS) – Hoop CWS Black
Colton was easily one of the best 3pt shooters this weekend. Playing alongside Antonio Salinas, Colton was able to consistently knock down open shots, but also showed his ability to create off the dribble in the open court. Colton made his first 5 shots in game one on Saturday morning and also had some impressive moves in transition.
6’5 (PG) Suraj Gahir (Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary) – DRIVE U17 Red
This 6’5 PG was one of best players on one of the few undefeated 17U teams this weekend. The 6’5 guard was a mismatch problem. His quick first step allowed him to consistently beat defenders off the dribble and easily shoot over or around the help side defenders. Suraj consistently crashed the defensive glass which led to him leading the break and continually making the right read and getting his teammates some great shots.
6’0 (PG) Billie Sheikh (West Seattle HS) – Apollo Academy
This kid did it all for Apollo Academy this weekend. Billie showed a very quick first step and was able to easily beat defenders off the dribble. When the opposing teams went zone, Billie efficiently knocked down shots from behind the arch and made great passes within the zone. Billie carried a lot of the weight for his team, but did a great job offensively.
6’5 (SF) Caleb-Tyree Morgan (Olympic HS) – Total Package 17U
Caleb did a little bit of everything, but after he begin to consistently knock down mid range jump shots off the dribble, college coaches begin to buzz about the 6’5 senior from Olympic High School. Caleb was a mismatch problem for many teams. Along with his consistent shooting, Caleb also rebounded the basketball very well and was very comfortable and under control leading the break.
Overall, this weekend was a a great opportunity for a lot of unsigned seniors to showcase their talent For additional information on these players, please message me via twitter @Coach_McLeod.
