NyweshRound One
Jake Wohlers (MN Lightning/Lake City) vs Jordan Sagedahl (SW Mn Stars/BOLD). Jake was the third leading scorer for the a Lake City state tournament team this season and a wing that’s made a nice name for himself. Jordan averaged 19.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last year.
Jack Fisher (MN Lace Up/Rochester Century) vs Agwa Nywesh (Heat West/Austin). Big Nine rivals, there is a lot of buzz about 6-foot-1 Jack Fisher and his 21 points a game last year, this weekend Fisher will have a chance to make a nice name for himself. Can he do it against Nywesh (scored 19 a game at Austin) and the high pressure Heat West squad?
Walker Johnson (Heat Presbi/BSM) vs Glentrell Carter (FAB/Mpls Henry). Walker is a big shooter at about 6-foot-5 who was the third leading scorer at BSM while Carter has had an excellent spring for FAB coming off a 15 point per game season in the Minneapolis City.
OpsahlRound Two
Dunwa Omot (MN Rise/MN Valley Lutheran) vs Josh Rogers (Fury Kallman/Mpls Washburn). One of the top names of March (Omot) against one of the top names of the spring (Rogers). Omot is a shooter with range that has slashed his way to score but there has been a lot of talk about Rogers on the defensive end (scored 15 a game in the city too).
James Sommer (MN Mentality/CDH) vs Sam Opsahl (WOTN/Goodhue). When it comes to all around guard produces James will be one of the best at the state tournament but the same can be said about Opsahl as a defender. This is could be a fantastic match-up if Opsahl guards James instead of Burgess or Curtis Jones.
Isaac Ask (Heat Speer/Farmington) vs Joich Gong (Select Cave/Mankato East). Joich is a playmaker that will play college hoops at the D2 or D3 level someday for a good school, but the where and how are to be determined. A guard he could see this weekend is Isaac Ask, a 2021 playing up after an excellent 2018-19 sophomore year.
OlsonRound of Eight
Wyatt Olson (MN Rise/St. Peter) vs Cooper Olson (Comets Lewis/Champlin Park). Wyatt Olson has had a fantastic spring helping the Rise have an excellent spring. The talented post has worked his way onto the radar of division two coaches and a game against a talent like Cooper Olson can really grab the attention of schools. Same goes for Olson or Noah Puetz of the Comets.
Joshua Brown (Heat Vang/Park Center) vs Curtis Jones (Mentality/CDH). Shooters! Shooters! Shooters! Who are some of the best shooters in the senior class? These are two of the best. Brown is starting to get some D1 calls after a huge spring playing with the Heat, while Jones is well known for his hot hand.
Jacob Jennissen (Matrix/Sauk Centre) vs Lukas Dunford (Select Cave/Eden Prairie). Bigs! There aren’t many with the size that Jennissen has at 6-foot-11 and Select doesn’t have that type of size either but the closest thing to it is Lukas Dunford, an EP reserve big who impressed during the 16u season a year ago. Can Jennissen have the monster impact inside that he’s had in previous Prep Hoops events?
Final Four
Noah King (Comets Lewis/Caledonia) vs Peter Soumis (Northern Lakers/Hermantown). Peter Soumis has produced in numbers against the Fury, against Comets DLR, and against the Matrix. There are talented guards on those teams, but can Peter do it against King? Noah is a winner, a leader, as tough as they come and a player with a D1 offer. The challenge of all challenges.
