With teams from NY2LA, Adidas Gauntlet, and UAA this event was filled with talent at every level. Below are some players who impressed and are worthy of recognition.
Jevon France (via hudl)Jevon France 6’0 Michigan City(Indiana)/Reach 15U– Fresh out the gate, France forced a turnover, crashed the offensive glass, and dropped dimes. He continued to play with high intensity on both ends of the floor forcing turnovers and going coast to coast. He also showed his versatility being able to play inside and outside of the perimeter. He is a large reason that REACH opened to a early 13-4 lead on NO Wolfpack. The Indiana native continued to play exceptionally well and finished with a win and 8 points all coming in the first half.
Armaan Hussaini 5’7 Rochester/North Oakland Wolfpack 15U– The young guard showed poise in his Friday night matchup against REACH(Adidas). He showed a nice touch from the outside as well as the ability to attack in a 1on1 scenario. He has a strong IQ but would like to see him add some more vocalness to his game. The freshman Rochester guard also has strong court vision as he showed with a nice baseline drive to hit his teammate for a triple. Hussaini finished with 19 points against REACH.
Zack Austin 6’1 Clarkston/NO Wolfpack 15u- Austin isn’t just a spot up shooter. Despite his three first half 3’s against REACH, he showed he was much more than that. He was the fire that kept the Wolfpack in this ball game. After knocking down a triple, Austin was seen on the defensive end being vocal because a man was left open as he went to go help. He also took on the responsibility of guarding REACH’s stud in France which he did a strong job at doing. The Clarkston guard finished with 11 points all coming in the first half.
Hayden Files 5’10 Detroit Catholic Central/REACH 15u- Files is a strong perimeter defender and even stronger shooter. He did a good job staying in front of the Wolfpack’s quick guard, Hussaini and even blocking a shot. On the offensive end he did a good job knocking down triples and attacking the basket to dish it off to a teammate. The REACH guard finished with 11 points against a strong Wolfpack team.
Gannon Blair 6’0 Dearborn Divine Child/Reach 15u- It’s not a surprise that this kid has skill. Blair’s older brother, Quinn Blair also played with REACH and went to Divine Child and is currently playing at William & Mary. Blair led his team to a championship this weekend and also eared himself Championship MVP. He does everything out there including defend. In one contest he even held his opposing team’s best player scoreless for 11 straight minutes with his coach credited to opening up the game for the team. Throughout the weekend. Blair averaged 15 PPG, 7 RPG, 4APG, and 3 SPG.
