Here were some of the Day 1 standouts that impressed:
Jalin Anderson CG/PG 6’3 2020 AZ Compass Prep (Team Harden 17)
-Strong on-ball defender and scorer from all 3 levels. Great quickness and speed and squares up quickly to get shot off. He gets great elevation on jumper and has a nice euro step. His pull-up is pure and has a nice looking deep ball. He is very athletic and showed it off with a nasty tip-dunk off of an offensive rebound high above the rim. His two-way play was one of the best out there on opening night. (Pictured on cover).
Dalen Terry PG 6’6 2020 Hillcrest Prep (Compton Magic Elite 17)
-Feel for the game is super high. He is one of the top passers on the West Coast and can score it many ways. He can hit catch 3’s plus uses the pull-up. He can use his tight handle to get into the lane and score it different ways. He uses his massive wingspan to collect steals. He put his team on his back in OT to advance to the Finals of the 17U BattleCup Boost Bracket.
Xavier Dusell SG 6’4 2020 AZ Compass Prep (Team Harden 17)
-Gets his shot off quickly. Comes off screens sharply and is improving putting the ball on the floor and scoring inside. He is sneaky bouncy and has become a good passer and defender. He is tabbed as a catch and shoot player, which he does well with deep range, but he has expanded his game to new levels.
Camrone Cherry SG 6’3 2020 AZ Compass Prep (Firestorm Elite 17)
-Long scoring guard with NBA range. Shot fake and can go by defender with a deceptive quick first step. Lefty can use right hand in traffic. Moves really well without the ball. Good passer and can rebound. Can get stronger/tougher in the paint. New player moved in from Georgia.
Ajang Aguek PF 6’7 2019 Taylor Made Prep (Team Harden 17)
-One of my favorite players to view. His activity is off the charts. He defends all positions during a game and rebounds, blocks, steals, takes charges on the norm. He can face-up from the elbow and is trying to extend his range further out. He does need to speed up his shot, as it comes out a little slow. He can rip through and score it with his back to the basket and finish with his left or right hand.
Keyshon Upchurch PG 5’8 2020 Seton Catholic (LV Knicks 17)
-Quick defensive lead guard and catch perimeter shooter. Can get by his defender to lay it in. He is a ball-hawk on defense and plays with a big motor.
