Continue ReadingAfter the first live weekend, recruiting has taken off for several 2020 prospects. Grassroots teams from Alabama competed at a high level last weekend, and the players are taking in all the benefits. Here is a run down of the latest news for 2020 prospects.
Tommy Murr (Alabama Fusion)- The nation’s leading scorer has shown that he belongs on the EYBL Circuit. Several programs made their way to visit Tommy this week. Tennessee Tech Head Coach, John Pelphrey offered. Troy and Scott Cross have offered. Southern Miss, Samford, Missouri State, and Belmont all made visits recently. Murr is also hearing more from Auburn.
Mark Sears (Alabama Fusion)- Sears’ strong play and ability to command a team has earned him an offer from UAB. Head Coach Rob Ehsan and Associate Head Coach Turner Battle made an in home visit and offered. South Alabama and Tennessee State were also scheduled to visit Sears.
Colby Jones (Alabama Fusion)- Jones is starting to blow up. His size, ability, and improved playmaking is standing out on the EYBL Circuit. This kid was a critical player for the Fusion over the weekend. Georgia and Clemson both have recently offered the 6’5 combo guard. Samford’s entire staff also made a visit.
Jadan Coleman (Alabama Fusion)- Coleman’s efficient offensive showing over the weekend opened the eyes of many schools. This kid showed off a smooth jumper and crafty finishes against some of the best 2020 players. Troy has offered the 6’4 shooting guard. VCU and Southern Miss have also conducted visits with Coleman.
Jalen Myers (Team Carroll)- Myers is a unique perimeter talent with size (6’7) and ability. He has really progressed as a scorer and has improved his ability to knock down 3s. He also rebounds the ball at a very high rate. VCU and Samford were in this week to see the wing. He already holds an offer from Southern Miss.
Sam Youngblood (Hawks Elite)- Youngblood showed this weekend that teams need to be in contact with him. This kid can score from anywhere on the floor. His offensive show over the weekend earned him a visit to Wofford. Several other MM programs were seen watching Youngblood this weekend.
Rongie Gordon (ATL Xpress)- The 6’8 forward recently picked up an offer from Troy. Gordon is a well rounded forward with loads of potential and athleticism. He has really taken a step forward and his SEC offers show it. This kid continues to improve every time his feet hit the floor.
Giancarlo Valdez (Pro One Select)- The 6’4 combo guard was visited by Troy Head Coach Scott Cross. Coach Cross has made recruiting in state a priority. Valdez is one of the best two way players in the state, and has the ability to play on/off the ball.
