KC Stock Risers: A look at Shooters who are raising their profile
With the spring grassroots season underway, Prep Hoops takes a look at several Kansas City area guards in the 2020 class who are raising their profile.
21-Mason Thompson, 6’0, 2021, Rockhurst, KC YOBO 16u
A good shooter and strong body on the floor. He can mix things up in the paint or play the wing as a slasher or spot-up shooter from the wing and corner spot. Thompson has a nice feel and is a good team player with the ball.
Tully Thomsen, 6’1, 2020, Oak Grove, YOBO
An inside-outside threat who plays hard defense and works for everything. He can play a guard spot and sometimes works inside and plays facing and with his back to the basket. He shoots from way down town and connects more often than not. A strong, well-built player with athleticism and strength.
1-Devin Tomlinson, 6’4, 2021, Blue Springs South, KC YOBO 16u
A smooth shooter and a good-sized player who emerged as a scorer, rebounder and hard-worker. Tomlinson can play off the ball well and fits nicely into any style of play. He shoots the mid-range game and looks to get his teammates the ball.
35-Eli Wingert, 6’7, 2021, Blue Springs South, KC YOBO 16u
A nice big with size, length and skill around the basket. He can shoot mid-range jumpers and looks good extending the floor with his long ball at times. He stays active around the rim and looks to block shots and finish in the half-court game.
15-Liam Weaver, 6’3, G/F, Pembroke Hill, Marcus Denmon 2021
A nice glue piece who runs hard and looks to connect on open baskets. He earns his time on the floor through his thoughtful decision making with and without the ball. He defends well in open space and is good at defending bigger players on a switch and handling guards on the arc. Also a productive at playing the wing position as a slasher.
