With the spring grassroots season underway, Prep Hoops takes a look at several Kansas City area guards in the 2020 class who are raising their profile.
8-Kobe Campbell, 6’0, 2020, Raytown South, Marcus Denmon Elite
A smooth, flashy guard who dribbles softly up the floor and makes old school moves from the guard position. He has a great mid-range jumper and is great at fighting through coverage and using his athleticism to score through the air and from distance.
5 Kolby Franklin, 6’2, G, 2020, Lee’s Summit North, KC Silver
A fluid guard who has good length and makes decisions on the fly. He can shoot from deep and looks to pass as much as he does shoot from distance. He takes his time and has a good feel for the wing area and has a solid game of the defensive side.
25-Kaimen Lennox, 6’3, 2020, Truman, Team KC Black 17u
Lennox is a much improved player from a year ago. He puts his head down and scores inside with little required energy. He’s very strong for his frame and has great speed and can stop on a dime and pull up for a jumper. Lennox also has a great deal of talent and skill, something that gives him an edge in one-on-one situations.
13-Ethan Moore, 6’3, 2020, Summit Christian Academy, KC Premiere Blue Chips 17U
A nice forward who passes and makes good plays with the ball. He can shoot from distance and sets good screens and rolls to the basket. He plays hard inside and can step out to shot some if it’s open and he’s comfortable.
4-DeAnthony Pennington, 2020, Team KC Black 17u
Pennington can shoot and get to the basket, but he spent a great portion of the day making extra passes and getting people looks who didn’t get a lot of touches. He’s a confident player who sacrifices his own opportunities to get others in the zone.
