Over the weekend, I got a chance to see some talented players in person for the first time that I was quite impressed with. Here are some of those forwards that I got a first look at.
Mark Cann 6’5″ Team KC Black 17U: The Class 4 All-State combo forward from Raytown South is a very skilled player and a matchup problem for opposing defenses. He is a very good shooter from 3-point range and he has the ability to score off the bounce as well. He was also very good in transition.
Jared Gerdes 6’6″ MoKan 2021 16U: A very capable Stretch 4 from Summit Christian who has good length and a nice stroke from 3-point range. He has nice touch in the post, but he can really stretch the defense with his perimeter shot.
Jason Jones 6’5″ Yanders Law 16U: A rugged young power forward from Nixa who knows how to score and rebound around the basket, but he also has a solid skill set to go with it. He was used on the press break with his ability to handle the ball and make good positions on the pass.
Kyron Thropes 6’4″ GoL1ve Black 15U: A very talented young combo forward from Confluence Prep Academy who can run, jump and handle the ball with versatility. He is a good offensive rebounder who had several nice put backs during the weekend. His upside is pretty high.
Aaron Ledgerwood 6’8″ Missouri Flight 16U: A Class of 2022 big from Glendale who showed well in the games I watched as he played a year up during the weekend. He displayed a nice touch around the basket and he has nice fundamentals in the post. He catches the ball well and keeps the ball high.
