Friday night had many of the big name teams like Dream Vision, BTI and LA Elite.
Dream Vision Next, which has many sophomores, fell to BTI Select 2020 60-56.
Then Dream Vision 17U defeated LA Elite 81-63.
Here were some of the stars in those two games:
Brandon Whitney PG 6’1 2020 Alemany HS (BTI Elite 2020)
-Good on-ball defender and pure PG. He is good off the pick and roll. He makes plays off of it either with a floater, runner or makes the correct read. He hesitates well to gain separation on his defender or uses a big burst to get into the paint and can finish or get fouled. He is a good shooter but is more of a downhill threat and is sneaky bouncy. He was the breakout player of the night. (pictured on cover)
CJ Jones SG 6’3 2020 Loyola HS–will prep to Vermont Academy (BTI Elite 2020)
-Big time shooter with a super quick release. He is sneaky athletic to throw it down. He can pull-up but is mostly a catch and shoot stud. He made some clutch FT’s down the stretch to essentially ice the game.
JT Tan C 6’8 2020 Rolling Hills Prep (Los Angeles Elite Hollingsworth)
-Face-up five-man with great strength and skill level. Can shoot it out to the 3pt line and has great hands to catch passes. Fights hard inside. An under the rim type of player but can flush it down on the break. IQ is extremely high.
Dominic Woods SG 6’3 2020 Serra HS (Los Angeles Elite Hollingsworth)
-Catch and shoot 3pt shooter with good quickness. Can cross his man over and get to the cup. Can pull-up off the dribble at times and good open court speed. Good on-ball defender who could improve his handle in tight spaces. Good upside for the future.
Isaiah Cottrell PF 6’9 2020 Bishop Gorman (Dream Vision 17)
-Long and fluid forward who moves well in space and can protect the rim. Can face-up to the 3pt line and has a nice touch on his shot. Good body control and makes many shots with his off left hand. Clear top-100 talent in the class.
Will McClendon SG 6’4 2021 Bishop Gorman HS (Dream Vision Next)
-Can drive the lane and defends his position at a high level using his huge hands, strength and long arms. He can in and out dribble to get his defenders off him. He makes plays for others and can create separation and hit from mid-range. He is good off the catch from the 3pt line.
