There was a lot of talent on hand, including a number of impressive forward and post prospects. Here are some of the top ones we noticed over the course of the three days of play.
Joshua Jefferson (2022 Liberty/Dream Vision) – Jefferson was one of the most productive players in the entire 15U division. At 6-foot-8 and very well built – his father Ben played in the NFL and two older brothers played college football – he was obviously extremely tough to handle down low around the basket. But Jefferson was also extremely skilled away from the hoop. Often times he would get the ball out on the wing, and then use the dribble to get himself into position to back down his defender where he would then go to work. Jefferson has some of the best footwork we’ve seen out of a player his age and he would utilize that to free himself for wide open layups. He also was a dominant rebounder and made an impact blocking shots as well and for sure was an all-tournament performer.
Jeremiah Nyarko (2022 St John Bosco/Dream Vision) – The very first glance we got of Nyarko was the very first 15U game we were at, where we saw a 6-foot-8 kid go above the rim to grab a rebound, take it coast to coast, and then punch in a slam over a defender. The native of Ghana is an elite run-and-jump athlete and highlight dunks and blocked shots were the norm for him the entire weekend. While his game is still fairly limited to around the basket, Nyarko does have a very soft touch on his shot and he was pretty much unstoppable when he got his hands on the ball down low. As his game grows, his potential appears to be limitless.
Syeon Jennings (2022 Lynwood/The Truth EYBL) – The begoggled Jennings has a strong upper body and was active in the paint and mid-range throughout The Truth’s run to the championship. He played bigger than his 6-foot-4 listed height and showed a nice face-up jumper.
Tyus Parrish-Tillman (2022 Fresno Christian/24/7) – Already standing about 6-foot-7, Parrish-Tillman is a young post with a lot of potential. He has a soild frame, moves well up and down the floor, and has a fairly soft touch on his shot. He was solid on the boards for 24/7 and showed some good potential as a shot blocker defensively.
Verrell Joseph (2022 Fairfax/Los Angeles Elite Payne) – Joseph is fairly rail-thin at 6-foot-5, but has good length and played with a good motor all weekend. He fought hard for rebounds and was able to score a little bit on put-backs off the offensive glass.
