The event does a tremendous job of bringing in talent from all three shoe circuits and puts them up against each other. We also see under the radar guys from non shoe circuit teams. Below is part 2 of my standouts from the event.
2022 DeShawn Harris Smith | Team Takeover
DeShawn is certainly a player that is just starting to scratch the surface as he has not even sat in a high school class before but has already shown signs of being very good down the road. Already with a strong body, DeShawn was one of the better players in the 15 and under division this past weekend after scoring the ball in bunches and rebounding well for his position.
2021 Aisaiah Phillips | District WAWG
Phillips is a name from the 2021 class that I have not seen before but glad I saw him this past weekend. Phillips is a score first guard that can put the ball in the basket a lot of different ways. He plays with good energy and simply gets whatever needs to be done for his team. I would expect many mid major schools to try and get his services at the next level.
2022 Jaden Rainey | DC Premier
Rainey really stood out on the defensive side of the ball. He constantly stayed in players faces applying tons of pressure. He also has a good sense of where the ball might be going next as he is constantly ready to steal the ball. Late in the game I saw him play in he had three steals in a row at mid court and finished 2 of them with layups. He also showed some nice signs of passing the ball to teammates.
2021 Zaakir Williamson | DC Premier
Williamson’s size definitely helped his team on Saturday as he was dominant in the post and around the rim. He had a nice offensive tip in, rebounded offensively and power back up to lay the ball in and constantly bullied his way against his defenders to finish at the rim. Defensively he definitely effected his opposition in scoring the ball and continued to show he can alter shots. He finished nicely in transition too.
2021 Angelo Brizzi | Team BBC
I am glad I finally saw Brizzi this past weekend as he is a name I have heard a good amount of times. Brizzi is definitely a guy that can shoot the ball well but also looked comfortable with the ball in his hands doing other things too like bringing the ball up and finishing in transition and finishing with contact.
