For us, we are looking at those top players from Indiana. Today, we are detailing the top defenders. Here are the best we saw at Havoc in the Heartland.
Paris Roberson – 5’9 PG 2021 – Gary West (IN) – Indiana Dawgz 2021
Paris is a tough defender, able to get into guys with a lot of strength and quickness. He’s got that great first step and is able to play on the ball. Hawks things so well that he’s going to get a lot of offense just off those defensive stands. For only 5’9, he has some legit length.
Dejuan Echoles – 6’1 SG 2022 – Warren Central (IN) – Team Future 2022
Echoles was interesting this weekend because he’s so big and physically tough that he can do a lot of things. Really good on guards and wings and that switchability could really make his game useable down the road. Athletic with size and toughness is a great combination and he seems willing to try.
Gavin Yoon – 6’1 PG 2020 – Lawrenceburg (IN) – Indiana Legends 2020
Gavin looks better each time we see him this spring with his defense. He’s got good size and length and seems to be willing to put forth the effort that is going to allow him to utilize those assets on defense. Lateral quickness is key for him as he can be a near lockdown defender on the ball.
Brandon Brooks – 6’4 SF 2020 – Elkhart Memorial (IN) – Tipping Point 2020
Brandon is a big wing who showed he had the rebounding ability in him. He’s the ultimate switch guy because he looked tough and big enough to play on some forwards at the right level. He’s really mobile and athletic. Much better defensively and on the boards right now.
Silas Bauer – 6’5 SF 2021 – Loogootee (IN) – HoopZone Elite 2021
Silas has always been a favorite and a lot of that is in his versatility. Able to stretch on offense and rebound but defensively he continues to show that he won’t be limited by defending forwards. He’s athletic enough to play on guards and wings. Showed that the upside is there for him to be one of the better defenders when he is a senior.
