Everyone was most excited for the ML20 versus Seattle Rotary 9pm game, but there was some solid prospects in some of the other games as well. Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the players that played well, outside of the BIG game!
Friday night standouts:
2021 6’2 G Drew Carter (Team Fly Williams) – The Portland State offered guard lived up to the hype in the game versus FOH Seattle. He has a solid handle and can get by his primary defender with ease. He has sneaky bounce as well, taking off of two feet for the two handed slam out of seemingly nowhere. The Tigard HS standout is definitely someone to keep an eye on moving forward.
2020 6’4 SF Payton Richardson (Team Fly Williams) – Lanky wing player has a nice upside. He can get his own shot off and used creativity in the paint to get clean looks off of one foot. Payton is a solid athlete that should see his recruitment pick up with a continued strong spring and summer.
2020 6’3 SG Josh Lear (FOH Seattle) – Probably the best shooter in the entire showcase when you talk about pure shooting ability. He has consistent shooting form and can let it fly from deep with ease. Every time he shoots the ball, it looks like it is going in. He is a sleeper at this point in time, but Head Coach Tom Eggers is confident he will land a ride by the end of the summer.
2020 6’3 SG Mutdung Bol (Northwest Coastal) – A super explosive scorer that has only gotten better in the last year. He was the best scorer in the event along with Marjon Beauchamp. He has a quick release and gets good elevation on his pull up jumper. He can score from all three levels on offense and he uses his length to get into the passing lanes on defense. Legit D1 prospect.
2020 6’7 SF Jaylen Searlers (Norhtwest Coastal) – One of the surprises of the event for me. He is a long and agile athlete, capable of making game changing plays with his athleticism. He appears to have a decent perimeter skill set and this will be a continued point of emphasis to boost his overall game. He should get some D2 looks and maybe some lower D1 looks with a strong summer and continued development. Definite sleeper!
2020 6’5 F Cameron Stordahl (Northwest Coastal) – Following up on a strong high school season for Marysville-Pilchuck, Cameron had a solid showing on Friday as well. He is a bruiser inside and has surprising perimeter skills to keep the defense honest. Cameron is a solid college prospect at the right level.
Keep an eye on:
2021 6’5 SF Casey Jones (FOH Seattle)
2020 6’9 P Will Abram (FOH Seattle)
2020 6’2 G Devante Powell (Northwest Coastal)
2020 6’5 SF Jared Franklin (FOH Seattle)
