The top 5 bigs are all different skill set and size wise. The 2020 class has the potential to produce multiple bigs at the D1 level. With that being said, here are the top 5 bigs through the spring.
Rongie Gordon (ATL Xpress)- Gordon has picked up several SEC offers recently, and there is a reason why. He is playing out of his mind. Gordon is athletic and very skilled. He looks like a machine. This kid can stretch the floor from 3 and play above the rim. Gordon is an underrated passer and playmaker. If Gordon continues to improve his handle and playmaking, he could see time on the perimeter as a hybrid forward.
Shannon Grant (Alabama Celtics)- This kid has loads of potential. Grant is a true 6’10 monster. He is a load to handle in the paint and a double double machine! This kid has very soft hands, is active on the glass, moves very well and is extremely coachable. The biggest negatives are all related to his conditioning level and body. The things he does on the court, you cannot teach. Grant has the potential to be a top 10 talent in the state if he makes major improvements to his body.
Reginald Perry Jr (Alabama Fusion)- At 6’8 250, this kid is a monster. He is a physically imposing force. Perry has been the best big for the Fusion thus far. The Fusion lack size and depth in the front court, but This kid has been a stud for them. Perry has soft hands, finishes well in the paint, and is an active rebounder. Perry will play a big role for the Fusion moving forward.
Cameron Boozer (Florida Knights)- Boozer is a 6’9 athletic freak. Seriously, this kid is so gifted athletically. He plays above the rim, runs the floor well, protects the paint, and can knock down open 3s. There is not much this kid can’t do. Some people question his motor and effort level, but Boozer is one of the best bigs when he is locked in.
Cole Larue (Hawks Elite)- Larue has a good mixture of skill and size (6’8). He’s not the best athlete, but he makes up for his lack of athleticism with his high IQ. He can stretch the floor, put the ball on the deck for a couple dribbles, and is a solid passer. This spring, Larue has done an excellent job on the glass, and shown he has the ability to alter shots.
