Continue Readingthe 2020 class has an interesting group of wings. There are several prospects that are some of the best athletes in the class, but other wing prospects have turned heads for their improved overall play. Several 2020 wings are going to play at the D1 level. This selected group might not be the 5 best overall wings talent/potential wise, but these 5 have been consistent and deserve recognition.
Sedrick Pettway (Alabama Celtics)- Pettway has been one of the breakout performers of the spring. This kid is 6’5 and has become a very aggressive offensive player. Pettway has shown the ability to score at all 3 levels and still impact the game as an on ball defender. If Pettway improves his off ball defense and becomes a more consistent playmaker, he can turn himself into a sure fire D1 prospect.
Jalen Myers (Team Carroll)- With the loss of Jayden Stone, Myers is a player that has picked up the slack. This kid has the size (6’7-6’8) and skill set to become one of the best prospects in the class. Myers is a very good rebounder and has shown the ability to score at all 3 levels. In Gauntlet play, he has shot 36% from 3. Would love Myers to show his playmaking ability as he carries a heavier load for Team Carroll.
Geraldo Lane (Pro One Select)- Lane is a 6’4 competitor. This kid can play both wing spots, and he is a top 20 talent in the state. Lane is very athletic and has the length to be a disruptive force on the defensive end. Better known for his slashing ability, Lane can hit open 3s. The more consistent he becomes from 3, the higher his stock will rise.
Austin Harvell (Alabama Fusion)- This kid is one of the most unselfish players in the state. Harvell is a critical player for the Fusion with his ability to defend inside/out, to rebound, and his willingness to make the right play. This kid is a 6’6 athlete and is a difference maker for a team lacking size. Harvell is comfortable with his role on the Fusion, but we would love to see him be more aggressive.
Jamel King (Alabama Fusion)- Known for his shooting ability, King has made headways for his athleticism. This kid is a long armed 6’7 athlete who can be very disruptive on the perimeter. The majority of his shots have come from behind the arc, but he is more than a shooter. King is another unselfish kid, but we’d like to see him show off his full skill set more.
