The head coaches that will be responsible of coaching and selecting the 12-man roster that will be headed to Brazil in June to compete in the U16 FIBA Americas will be DeMatha (MD) head coach Mike Jones, St. Edwards (OH) head coach Eric Flannery, and Georgia’s own Pace Academy (GA) head coach Sharman White.
The 12-man roster will be selected right before the team heads off to South America. The 2019 U16 FIBA Americas will be in Belem, Brazil between June 3rd and June 9th. The full tryout roster has yet to be officially announced, but the Georgia prospects that will be representing include 2022 PG Dillon Hunter of Westlake High School and 2021 F Jabari Smith Jr. of Sandy Creek High School.
Dillon Hunter, younger brother of Clemson commit Chase Hunter, is one of the best freshman prospects in the country, currently ranked No. 12 according to ESPN. Hunter has had a solid freshman campaign and is now running with the Georgia Stars 16U team in the Nike EYBL circuit.
As for Jabari Smith Jr., his fluid game has been noticed over the last few months by the national media and college coaches and that has earned him a national ranking in the ESPN rankings. He is currently No. 27 according to ESPN. The 6-foot-9 forward has been running with the Atlanta Celtics (GA) in the Adidas Gauntlet this spring, summer.
