Continue ReadingECI Hosted its annual tournament last weekend in Moorhead and the competition was fierce throughout Saturday and Sunday. Play culminated with ECI teams taking the championships at the 16U and 17U levels.
Here are some of the top forwards from the 17U level:
Hunter Lyman, ECI Prospects 17U
Lyman is a hoss inside and while he can at times force shots in the post, his impact on both ends of the floor is far more positive than negative. He runs the floor hard, fights for position down low and can finish in traffic. He’s got strong footwork in the post and when given time and space to operate, few guys can handle him one-on-one down low. Lyman is a strong rebounder on both ends of the floor too.
Andre Carrier, ND Attack Green 17U
Carrier was a bright spot for ND Attack Green over the weekend, providing strong shooting, rebounding and high energy. At 6-foot-5, Carrier’s athleticism allows him to produce on the offensive end without needing a high volume of usage. He’s a solid shooter but also attacks the rim and can finish over smaller defenders.
Caden Johnson, ND Attack Black 17U
Johnson was impressive for ND Attack Black, showing off pretty footwork and touch inside on offense along with tenacious rebounding on the defensive end. Johnson runs the floor well for a 6-foot-9 guy and he works hard to establish position inside on the block.
Tallon Klatt, ECI Selects 17U
Klatt looked really good helping ECI Selects get to the championship game over the weekend. At 6-foot-7, he’s big and strong and plays with a lot of physicality. Klatt sets hard screens, rolls hard to the rim, has good hands and finishes well in traffic. His defense looked awesome at times as his size and length allow him to contest shots even if he reacts to something a little late.
Elijah Klein, ND Attack Blue 17U
Klein is one of the top big men in North Dakota and he showed why over the weekend, fitting in seamlessly with ND Attack Blue. At 6-foot-7, Klein is big, strong, athletic and skilled and he puts all those attributes to use on his way to producing consistently and efficiently. He’s really good when he can get the ball in the mid and high post areas on the floor and his footwork and finishing ability are top-notch. He’s one of the best in and out of area rebounders in the state too, and that ends possessions for the opposition and creates extra scoring chances for his team.
Justice Noel, ECI Selects 17U
Noel was a bit guy at Fargo Davies last year but he looks like a guy who should be ready to step in and produce in his senior year. At 6-foot-3, He’s not the tallest guy but his motor and athleticism allow him to play a lot bigger. He’s a strong finisher in traffic as he jumps high and quick and he runs the floor effectively. You always know where Noel is going to be – around the rim.
