Zion Johnson – Camelback
He was solid on both ends of the floor with his size, but made it incredibly difficult for Sierra Linda when he played defense. They could not get anything near the rim all game, because of his long arms. Then, he rebounded effectively and ended quality possessions that way.
Waylon England – Thunderbird
He was a pest that took advantage of just about any mistake opponents made when dribbling or passing in his vicinity. He wasn’t coming up with a lot of flashy steals and deflections, but was strong and effectively nonetheless, giving up very little space to dribble around.
Anthony Garza – Shadow Ridge
He was as good as he’s known to be for Shadow for a couple years, as one of the best players the Stallions had on the floor last season. He used his height and long arms to be a consistent problem for whoever he was coming on all parts of the floor, and was good protecting the basket when he served as the last defender.
Prince Nshuti – Camelback
He was fun to watch play defense against opposing guards. He was pesky and got his hands in a lot for steals or deflections in a defensive effort that was fantastic, literally only allowing two points in the entire first half of a victory.
