A number of in-state standouts are inked letters of intent with conference schools and here’s a quick look at who has signed where – starting with Grants Pass point guard Taylor Anderson with Corban.
Anderson was a bright spot in a rebuilding year for the Cavemen. A solid, hard-working 5-foot-9 guard who can shoot the ball from deep, Anderson chose the Warriors over other NAIA and NWAC options.
“I really like the small campus of Corban and I really like the coaches – Coach Freeman and Coach Lue,” Anderson said. “I went to an open gym and I really like the players and I thought it was a good fit for me.”
Also signing this month with Corban from in-state are a couple of 1A standouts – Aaron Buechley (2019 Umpqua Valley) and Christopher Nobles (2019 Wallowa). In March, the Warriors added a transfer in redshirt freshman Jake Estep (2018 Beaverton/Western Oregon). Estep was a First Team 6A All-State selection as a senior at Beaverton and then played briefly with Western Oregon this past season. He should make an instant impact with his perimeter shooting.
Warner Pacific has started to restock their roster and their top signee this spring may very well be Kadeem Strickland (2015 Jefferson/Portland CC). The 5-foot-10 point guard was First Team 6A All-State as a senior at Jefferson and played one year for Western Oregon’s Final Four team the following season before taking a couple of years off. He decided to start playing again and had a solid year at PCC and should be an immediate contributor at Warner. WPU also inked Miles Brown (2015 Sandy/Big Bend CC) who will add some size to the roster at 6-foot-8
Multnomah continues to pile up players for their up-tempo attack and this winter/spring added a couple of 1A players to add to Hayden Wakefield (2019 Salem Academy) in Caleb Premore (2019 Faith Bible) and Alex Petshow (2019 Horizon Christian-Hood River). And Evergreen State in Washington added Ian Hunt (2019 Astoria) back in February (link). Hunt was a First Team All-Cowapa League performer.
There are certainly more signings to come in the conference so be sure to stay tuned to PrepHoops Oregon for the latest.
