Blaze Nield prepped at Lehi High School where he primarily played off the ball. Blaze worked hard in the in Spring and Summer workouts to turn into a point guard. After a two year church mission to Washington D.C where he learned to speak Spanish Blaze ended up at Utah State Eastern. In 32 games Blaze put up some big numbers:
GP 32
PTS/G 20.6
FG % 44.3
3PT % 40.7
FT % 75.3
REB/G 5.2
AST/G 4.1
In his first game he jumped out of the gate and scored 26 points and proceeded to have success all year. With offers from UMBC, Idaho State and McNeese State. He also had interest from lot of other Division 1 schools. Blaze chose BYU over these schools in order to stay close to home and play for a school he dreamed of playing for his entire life.
BYU will get a consistent scorer and defender that still has room to grow. Blaze has 3 years left to grow with this new coaching staff. He will turn into a fan favorite with his creativity to score and get others involved. He could make an impact from day 1.
