Payton Lewis – Socastee HS – Manzer 17 (pictured on the front)
Lewis was the most consistent player all weekend for the Grand Strand based Manzer team. Lewis had games of 24, 11 and 23 points this weekend. Lewis plays the game with some savvy and swagger at times. Lewis has been and up this past season after moving over from nearby St James HS to the Braves. Lewis a guard hit 5 three pointers in a tough sudden death loss to the Atlanta All-Stars on Sunday.
Ben BurnhamBen Burnham – Nation Ford HS – Team Knicks 17U
Burnham really likes to play the game face-up whenever he can for the Team Knicks 17U. Burnham connected on some three pointers along with hitting some short corner jumpers. Burnham needs to still get stronger and tougher at times on the time. Burnham is a deceptive athlete for Head Coach Gilbert Major.
James MarquesJames Marques – Myrtle Beach HS – Manzer 17
Marques plays every second of the game like its his last. Marques NEVER takes plays off on the floor. Marques really defends the passing lanes well for his size and just swarms the ball on defense. Marques averaged 13 ppg over the 3 games this weekend.
Markus NastaseMarkus Nastase – Clover HS – North Carolina Flames
Nastase is a one trick pony on the floor and that is a SHOOTER. Nastase needs help to set his feet and get his shot off from downtown. Nastase is a 3 sport athlete in school. Nastase plays Quarterback on the football team along with playing baseball in the spring.
Dashawn MurrayDashawn Murray – North Charleston HS – Rock Nation Impact 2020
Murray has been up and down the past year or so with his play. Murray plays with a high end motor when he gets on the floor. Murray a streaky shooter connected a few shots today from the perimeter. Murray really likes to get in transition and play a fast style of play.
Darrell GardnerDarrell Gardner – Georgetown HS – Manzer 17
Gardner came out on fire on Sunday in a sudden death loss to the Atlanta All-Stars. Gardner a combo guard seems best suited off the ball and finished with 21 points. Gardner connected on 6 three pointers in the game. Manzer 17 finished the weekend (2-1) after losing in the semifinals.
Maliek Brown – Wando HS (Mount Pleasant) – Low Country Storm
We included Brown here even though he wasn’t here with the team on Saturday. Brown is a extremely athletic wing and quick leaper on the floor. Brown was nursing a bad ankle last weekend with the team in the NTBA South Carolina State Tourney last weekend.
