Here were some of the standout rising sophomores I viewed:
Creed Williamson PF 6’6 (Rancho Solano Prep/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Rise)
-Thick and powerful forward. Great rebounder in area carving up space. Good second jumper and motor to rebound the ball. FT shooting and face-up game are improving.
Elijah Saunders F 6’6 (Rancho Solano Prep/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Rise)
-Thick forward who can face-up to the 3pt line and flush it down on the break. He can rip and score it plus catch and shoot from mid-range. Good rebounder in area and has strength.
Jamir Stephens PG 5’11 (Desert Pines HS/Las Vegas Olympians 17U)
-Strong downhill PG scores through contact. Not a great perimeter threat yet but made a clutch FT down stretch to win it. Sees the court and can defend his position.
Tayan Thompson PF 6’4 (Desert Vista HS/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Grey)
-Big kid with a size 14 and half shoes. Thick forward who uses girth, strength and length to rebound the ball. Upside is very high due to future measurables.
Andrew King SG 6’2 (Desert Vista HS/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Rise)
-Long shooter who can score it from all 3 levels. Good burst in the lane and uses the floater. Consistent 3pt shooter and a tough competitor.
Dominic Caprioti SG 6’3 (Skyline HS/The Show 17U)
-Top notch catch and shoot guard. One of the deeper shooters and already has great size for college. Once his lateral quickness improves, he will make big strides.
Orlando Gonzales PG 5’10 (St. Mary’s HS/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Rise)
-Skilled, crafty and has good play-making abilities. Energy and skill off the bench turned a close game around the last 6 minutes of the game. Very competitive and a cerebral player.
JP Musselman SG 6’4 (Brophy Prep/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Grey)
-Skilled shooter who has a nice stroke. Good size and length plus he makes correct reads.
Brandon Austin PG 5’9 (Arcadia HS/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Grey)
-Skilled and tough guard. Makes plays and can shoot it from deep. Competes on both ends of the court and plays with a tough edge.
Will Dubuc SF 6’4 (Desert Mountain HS/Powerhouse Hoops 15U Grey)
-Good sized forward can score it from inside and out. Can shoot it out to the 3pt line plus get to the rim. He makes his money on the glass. Avg over 10 rebounds a game all weekend long with a good motor.
