Here were some of the standout rising seniors I viewed:
Trey Ward SG 6’2 (Mead HS/Colorado Titans Gold 17U)
-Quick and athletic guard. Little skinny but explosive off of two feet and has a nice first step. Very smart and can change speeds. Also plays football and brings that toughness to the court. He was injured and couldn’t fully go the last game but he was the big reason the Titans Gold got to the Finals.
Dedrick Mitchell PG 5’9” (Squalicum HS/Washington Elite)
-Quick and physical on-ball defender. Super tight handle. Has to be more consistent with his perimeter shooting. More of a downhill scorer but can finish with either hand. Changes speeds and keeps defenders off balanced.
Kalen Russell PG 5’10 (Casteel HS/Legion of Hoops White 17U)
-Quick scoring lead guard. Good on ball defender with fast lateral quickness. Jumper has made huge strides in the last year and plays a smart floor game. Can turn the corner on his defender and get to the cup.
Kai Hendricks PG 5’8 (Diamond Ranch HS/Rancho Elite Basketball 17U National)
-Undersized but strong, tough and can shoot it. Changes speeds and can make the right play. Gets really low to the ground and is quick laterally to defend. Great competitor and understands the game.
Kendricks is a smart player and has some serious jets in the open court.Nathaniel Lowe PG 5’11” (Olympus HS/Utah Premier National Red 17U)
-Pure PG who gets the ball out of his hands quickly. Moves ball smartly and can pull-up from mid to the 3pt line but likes going downhill to score. Deceptively quick to get by his man and has an ultra high IQ.
Jacob Polei SF 6’4 (Murray HS/Utah Premier National Red 17U)
-Shooter with good length. Decent build and can take it into the lane and score it through contact. Tougher than he appears. He is a consistent catch 3pt shooter.
Brijon Warren 5’11 SG (Imagine Prep/Blue Chip Nation 17U)
-New player for me as he plays at a small school. He is very strong catch and shoot type player who can get downhill easily with a stronger upper body. He is a good passer and is very competitive.
Zach White PG 5’11 (The Bishop’s School/California Select 17U)
-Crafty PG who can shoot it consistently off the catch. Good passer who can make others better. Quick hands and a confident player.
Jake Tawhiao PG 6’2 (Mater Dei Catholic HS/Gamepoint 17U)
-Smart, tough and crafty lead guard. Sneaky athletic and a smart passer. Can create a little offense for himself and thinks the game. Good at many things.
