Be sure to check out our site for daily coverage of the Bash in the Desert event and follow us on twitter for live updates @PrepHoopsAZ and @CoachDomAZ! Here are the day 2 standouts:
Alem Huseinovic 6’3 G PHH Rise 2020
Mr. Money Ball! Alem has continuously impressed me with his great scoring ability. He can and will pull it from anywhere past half court. Not only is he an elite shooter, he can also attack the basket and finish. Alem is also a very underrated passer. He made some high level reads today and got some highlight worthy assists. Huseinovic can also lock up on defense, constantly pressuring his opponent and coming up with a lot of steals.
Dre Henry 6’8 F PHH Rise 2020
Dre Henry is back! Henry has been held back by injury thus far into the AAU season. He has looked noticeably slower and played below the rim for the majority of the games. However, Henry made a huge statement today, announcing that he is back in full force! He showed off some very impressive jumping ability. He caught two alley-oops off the backboard, slammed on three defenders at once off a low post move, and posterized a defender in transition. Dre Henry is a force to be reckoned with.
Dayshawn Wiley 6’4 G Las Vegas Olympians 2021
In the last game of the day, I saw this kid play for the first time and he played so well that he automatically made this list after only seeing him play once. There’s virtually no noticeable holes in his game. He shot the ball extremely well and attacked the basket with authority. He has elite jumping ability, throwing down some high light worthy dunks, and can create for his teammates. He had over 20 points in the last game of the day, which ended in double OT.
Tanner Poeschl 6’6 F The Show 17U 2020
Poeschl has gotten a lot better since I last saw him. He looked so polished and well rounded today. He blocked virtually every shot that came near him and scored at will in the low post. You can tell that he has really been putting in the hours and working on his game and boy it is paying off.
Dayton Harris 6’2 G The Show 17U 2020
Dayton Harris by far had the best passing/court vision out of anyone I saw play today. He makes some elite level passes and reads the floor so well. He rarely pulled his own shot, playing more of a traditional point guard role, but hit his shows when they were available.
