Blessin Kimble 6’5″ Semo Bulls 17U: The 2020 forward from Charleston is one of the hardest working players around and one of my favorites to watch in action. He was his normal aggressive self on Sunday with his scoring and rebounding in the low post. He is a tireless worker on the offensive glass and he runs the court and gets tough buckets around the basket.
Sam Thompson 6’9″ LHBA 16U: The talented 2021 big from Francis Howell led his team to the championship game of the 16U tournament. He was a force on both ends of the basket. On defense, he blocked two or three shots a game and protected the rim. On offense, everything runs through him because of his ability to score in the post combined with his ability to pass the ball and make his teammates better. He can also step out and make jumpers off the catch.
Aaron Molton 6’5″ Gateway (IL) 16U: The big fella from Collinsville (IL) in the metro St. Louis area is a 2020 wide body who was a force in the paint. He knew how to create space in the lane with his post ups and he finished well in traffic with both hands. When he established his position in the post, forget about it. He’s going to catch in and score. He was also very good on reverse layups to combat the shot blockers inside.
Jalen Hampton 6’5″ STL Hustle 16U: A bouncy 2021 combo forward from University City who enjoyed an excellent couple of games that I watched on Sunday. He is athletic and plays with a high motor, plus he is skilled enough to become a big problem to opposing defenders. He’s an excellent offensive rebounder and he also runs the court like a gazelle for transition buckets. He also has solid handles on the drive.
Carson Parker 6’7″ Missouri Elite 17U: A solid 2020 big from Montgomery County who has a big body and a pretty nice skill set in the low post. He has good hands and he can score around the basket in traffic. I was also impressed with his ability to pass the ball out of double teams or locate open cutters with pinpoint dimes. He is also an excellent pitcher on the baseball team.
