The class of 2020 showed its depth and talent all spring. There are athletes at multiple positions with varying skill sets. Here are 5 guards from the class of 2020 that grabbed our attention and are making people watch them come grassroots season in July:
Blake Cassidy (2020, G, Pellston High School, Northern Exposure)
Cassidy has been Northern Exposure’s go to option on the offensive end. He can create his own looks at the rim as well as score through the offense. Cassidy is smart with the ball and very efficient.
Menalito McGee (2020, G, Wyoming High School, Michigan Basketball Academy)
McGee has been a lightning bolt for MBA this spring. He has shown the ability to score, dish, and defend. McGee has forced turnovers with his in your face defensive style.
Trey Plichta (2020, G, Sanford Meridian, Champ Sports)
Plichta has been a defensive stopper on the perimeter. He’s shown that he has 3 point range on his jumper, shooting at a high percentage from outside. Plichta is a high IQ player that’s improving rapidly as he gains experience.
Eli Steffen (2020, PG, Zeeland West, West Michigan Lakers)
The recent MVP of the Camp Darryl Classic had a huge spring. Steffen has been prolific with the ball in his hands. He’s shown that he can create scoring chances and control the pace of the game.
Sam Vasiu (2020, CG, Grand Rapids Northpointe Christian, Grand Rapids Storm)
If a local college coach hasn’t seen Vasiu play, they need to in July. He’s been one of the biggest stockrisers this spring. Vasiu has been an explosive go-to scorer and as steady as can be with the ball.
