2020 Parkview G Dontae Taylor discusses his recruitment, Prep Hoops Circuit and more
Dontae Taylor was a true standout last month at the Prep Hoops #GRINDSZN Kickoff in Oklahoma City.
The 2020 6’1″ Missouri Parkview guard was a true lead point man and a confident one at that for the Missouri Flight. He is ranked No. 17 in the Prep Hoops Missouri 2020 rankings.
Currently, he has one offer from Missouri S&T with interest from a few Division II programs.
Taylor was part of a 13-13 Vikings squad that lost star 2019 forward and current Missouri State signee Tyem Freeman to a torn ACL in mid-December.
“My junior season started off really good but after the injury of to Tyem (Freeman), it was my chance to be the man of the show,” Taylor told Prep Hoops. “The most growth in my game is my jump shot I have been working on that part of my game for the past year.”
This is his third summer with the Missouri Flight. He calls them the best AAU program he’s played for and one that has shown him to be a better player on and off the court.
Missouri Flight the best program I had played for they showed me how to be a better player on and off the court, I been with them for 3 years.
As for his experience with the Prep Hoops Circuit. Taylor says it has been good and there is a lot of exposure to be had.
He pointed to his best attributes as his playmaking and scoring ability.
“I can score when I need a bucket or I can attack and get someone else the bucket, Taylor said. “The thing I want to improve the most is my shooting.”
Averaging 14.6 PPG, 5.0 APG and 4.0 RPG, Taylor made the most of his opportunity as the No. 1 option for Parkview. He dropped 20 or more points in three of the last four games including a 26-point outing on 11-of-17 shooting from the field in a loss to Rolla.
Taylor is already having a solid summer and I expect him to make to continue that play into his senior campaign this fall.
