He lifted St. John Paul II (28-5) to victory on a walk-off dunk in overtime to dethrone two-time defending champion Orlando Christian Prep, 50-48 in the Class 3A state final in March. It was a perfect feed down low from fellow senior Chosen Levarity (VIDEO).
“That was probably one of the best moves I made in my life because I had a lot of issues being ineligible at Rickards. My host family really helped me out through the process to change high schools,” Jeanne-Rose told Prep Hoops. “I came to St. John Paul II and I knew some people over there so that made it easier to make the decision.”
…”I was looking forward to winning a state championship. That was something I said at the beginning of the year and we did that.”
Jeanne-Rose finished with a game-best 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field as he was the only player to see the floor for all 32 minutes in the game. On top of that, St. John Paul II captured its very first state championship during its debut in the Final Four.
On Tuesday, Jeanne-Rose took a visit to Fairfield in Connecticut. He earned an offer from the program last Thursday.
The senior says he’ll make his decision sometime next week. He has drawn heavy interest from Troy, VMI, Pensacola State and Tallahassee Community College.
“For basketball, I want to go to a program that really wants me and wants me to play with them,” Jeanne-Rose said. “Schoolwise, I don’t know what major I want to do, but I want to keep my grades up. I’m looking forward to next season to play as a freshman.”
He said his best attributes were his versatility, ability to play any position, handle the ball, shoot well and go to the rim. Jeanne-Rose added that he’s looking to improve his body and 3-point ability once he gets to college in the fall.
His head coach Titus Nixon put Jeanne-Rose in great positions all season long, especially in Lakeland when it mattered most.
“Allan (Jeanne-Rose) was so good for us this season and what I think is scary is he just keeps getting exponentially better. He has all of the tools to be not just an impact player at the next level, but a superstar,” Nixon said. “He is humble, hard-working, and extremely coachable.
…”He learned our system in a short amount of time and led our team both offensively and defensively all the way to a state championship. I’m so happy to see him begin to get the recognition he deserves from college programs, and I have no doubt he’s going to make somebody very, very happy wherever he decides to go play the next four years.”
It was quite clear wherever Jeanne-Rose lands next week, he’ll make an immediate impact and be a steal for a college program. He is a super energetic kid with a great personality. He not only loves the game of basketball, but he knows what it takes to get better and just wants an opportunity. That will come soon for Jeanne-Rose.
