Shaun Callaway 2021 Dallas Showtyme Black (TX) wing
Scoring from multiple spots on the floor was the name to Shaun Callaway’s game at the Mayhem in the Plex, but it wasn’t all he could do. Callaway possesses impressive scoring skills from both the top and bottom levels. He can shoot the 3-pointer from the catch, but he can also make an off-ball cut to the rim, drive baseline, or flash to the high post and go to work on a low man. Callaway also rebounds the ball well, using his reach to out-length competing rebounders and generate second chances on the offensive end of the floor.
Brock Fosnight 2021 D1 Prospects (TX) wing
Brock Fosnight well-displayed his all-around scoring skills at the event. Fosnight scored from the post-up, the baseline cut, and the corner, but also could take the ball to the rim from the wing. He has surprisingly-practiced ball-handling skills and some size, as well, to go to battle with defenders. He is a tough finisher at the rim and can overpower hopeful show-stoppers.
Drake Kandsvater 2021 XPress (TX) combo
Drake Kandsvater is an excellent all-around player with rights to the mid-range game, as he dominated that part of the floor when I watched him. Kandsvater, at 6-foot-6, is an explosive athlete whose vertical reach wasn’t easily matched by any opposing player, and his elevation often extended above the rim, where he both protected the rim and rebounded well.
Montez Young Jr. 2021 Legion (TX) wing
As far as all-around skill goes, Young was one of the most versatile combos in the 16U division at the event. He could handle the ball well and lent his team an advantage in transition. As for scoring, Young was a force to be reckoned with in the mid-range game, whether it be from the catch at the high post or the pull-up. Young’s hustle was apparent, as well, as a rebounder and as a rim-protector.
